Talk Description

- Client duties - appointing duty holders, and allowing time, resources and information
- Principal designer and designer duties - managing risks at the design stage
- Principal contractor duties - the construction phase plan and coordinating contractors
- Contractor duties - planning, managing and monitoring work so it is carried out safely
- Worker duties - being consulted, taking care and reporting anything dangerous
Running the Talk
Read through the guidance beforehand, talk the points through with the team, then have everyone sign the record. Keep the signed record as evidence that the briefing took place and who received it.
Why Worker Duties Are Included
Duties on a construction project are often thought of as belonging to clients, designers and contractors, but workers have their own part to play. The talk closes on being consulted, taking care and reporting anything dangerous so everyone on site sees where they fit.
Adapting the Talk
Both files are fully editable, so add the duty holders on your project, the site contact for reporting concerns and how the construction phase plan is shared on site. Update the talk description if you cover extra points.
Keeping the Training Record
File the signed record with your training records, or log the talk against each attendee in a training matrix, so you can show who has been briefed and when.
Who Is It For?
Anyone with a duty on a construction project, from the client and designers to contractors and site workers. Use it at the start of a project, at site induction and when new contractors join.
